But for people with disabilities, finding love can be difficult because of societal barriers based on wrong ideas and biases. A big problem is the stereotypes that show people with disabilities as needing help, not interested in sex, or unable to have meaningful romantic relationships. The media often makes these ideas stronger by either ignoring the romantic lives of disabled characters or showing them in a way that doesn’t include sex. This lack of representation makes people think that love and intimacy are not normal for people with disabilities.
